The
Fund is a new public-private partnership that will
make a sustainable and significant contribution to reducing
infections, illness and death caused by HIV AIDS, tuberculosis
and malaria. It will do so by attracting, managing and disbursing
additional funds to those already available.
Please note that members of the private sector are invited
to take part in all Fund processes, including taking
part in the submission of proposals,
or joining the Technical Review Panel.
The
creation of such a public-private partnership requires the
full involvement of the private sector, both as a strategic
partner in building strong alliances to fight these diseases,
and as a source of expertise and experience.
The
Fund encourages the private sector to take a fully
active role in fighting AIDS, TB and malaria and would like
to keep all its partners - governments, NGOs, multilateral
agencies and other civil society partners - informed of
the many private sector initiatives already underway.
This
page will regularly highlight the various development and
health interventions, projects and best practice of business,
both corporations at the global level and small or medium
sized businesses in developing countries.
We
would require the following information:
- Name of company
- Country/town where activity is located
- Short description (250 words maximum) of activities
concerning AIDS, TB and malaria or related development
activities, particularly innovative projects in partnership
with public sector or NGOs
- URL (if you would like us to link to your website)
- Budget (cash and in kind)
- Results achieved
A
private sector consultation was held in Geneva on 6-7 December
2001, at which private sector representatives fully endorsed
the public-private partnership model of the Fund
and made a number of recommendations.
